Robin called these 3-D mandalas, but that's a bit misleading. There were some glasses issued by Crayola at one time that would cause certain colors to appear to come forwards and other colors to appear to retreat. These were more noticable when used with high contrast areas, and these mandalas were designed to take advantage of that. They aren't intended to be folded to produce actual 3-D mandalas, in fact it's not clear what that would mean except possibly a mandala inscribed on the surface of a sphere. That said, they can be colored quite attractively even without the special glasses.
